From Dreams to Reality

We began working together as creatives within educational spaces, which naturally led us onto a shared path of musical exploration. What started as two very shy creatives has grown into a duo interpreting ancient sounds through a contemporary lens. Raw & Pure represents the blending of ancestral African rhythms with modern urban influences from the UK and beyond.

Our musical journey truly began in an unexpected moment of conversation and trust. One day in 2022, my soul brother Pa Limon, a master drummer from Senegal, said to me, “Asafo, you need a Bolon.” I replied, “Ok… what’s a Bolon?” Three years later, after learning its history and significance, I commissioned one to be made through him. The Bolon arrived in August 2024, becoming the foundation for raw, authentic soundscapes woven with pure vocal melodies, drums, and complementary instruments. This evolving journey has now led to a six-track EP of earth-rooted songs resonating through words, rhythm, and sound.
